books (writes Chris Payne)...
The
Prophet's Way
This book by Thom Hartmann I

to Argue and Win Every Time
This book by Gerry Spence I wrote
about in our first Effort-Free Newsletter has some
wonderful and powerful stories. If you want a

Megabrain
This is a truly wonderful
book.Michael Hutchison has been called the high-tech
guru of the mind fitness revolution. He has
an incredible fast-paced, easy-to-read writing
style that made me feel I was reading twice as
fast as usual. there's lots on light and sound
machines (like our MindLab
Proteus), Monroe's research with Hemi-Sync/binaural
beats, cranial electrotherapy stimulation (CES),
brainwave biofeedback, and much more. (380 pages)
"A lucid review of the field of brain science...
all-encompassing" Psychiatric Times
Exploring
the World of Lucid Dreaming
the very best how-to book
on lucid dreaming with fabulous accounts of lucid
dreams. It comes with the NovaDreamer lucid dreaming
device which author Stephen LaBerge designed.
Stephen spends most of his time in a Sleep Lab
in Palo Alto, California, studying lucid dreams
on various subjects. I went to meet him a few
years ago and found him to be a fascinating character
with a complete passion for lucid dreaming and
its power to increase self confidence and a more
accepting view of the world and your place in
it.
the book is full of great accounts from people
who have gone lucid, and lots of exercises you
can do to increase your chance of having a lucid
dream quite dramatically.
the Power of Now
If you have bought our Sedona
Method CDs you are going to LOVE this book.
Eckhart Tolles life changed overnight after
a long period of deep depression. He shows you
the importance of living in the now, letting go
of the past and the future:
"To be identified with your
mind is to be trapped in time: the compulsion
to live almost exclusively through memory and
anticipation. This creates an endless preoccupation
with past and future and an unwillingness to honor
and acknowledge the present moment and allow it
to be. the compulsion arises because the past
gives you an identity and the future holds the
promise of salvation, of fulfillment in whatever
form. Both are illusions."
Tolle again: "If you cannot be present even
in normal circumstances, such as when you are
sitting alone in a room, walking in the woods,
or listening to someone, then you certainly won't
be able to stay conscious when something 'goes
wrong' or you are faced with difficult people
or situations, with threat of loss. You will be
taken over by a reaction, which ultimately is
always some form of fear, and pulled into deep
unconsciousness." A fabulous read.
You can get the book
on CD -- and a two-CD
set of talks by the author.
the
High Performance Mind
there is a particular brainwave
pattern that has been found in accomplished meditators,
yogis, artists and many highly productive individuals.
It is called the Awakened Mind state.
Ive met the author, Anna Wise, and I think
shes wonderful. She has been training people
to master their brainwaves for 20 years.
Have you ever wanted to increase your intuition?
Well, think of the colour blue while you're relaxing
and thinking. Anna has consistently seen that
theta brain waves increase when you think of that
colour: that's probably why we have the expression:
'that brilliant idea came out of the blue'.
Would you like to reduce your 'mind chatter'?
Relax your tongue so it starts to expand in your
mouth. It works! Why? Anna's view is that your
tongue makes tiny movements as you chatter silently
to yourself, so if you relax your tongue you reduce
the number of thoughts!
Do you ever have great meditations but don't remember
what happened during them? You're probably going
into a theta state, then coming out into beta.
You need to create an 'alpha bridge' between the
two states. Try telling yourself that you will
remember your meditations and, if you were hooked
up to an EEG machine, you would see in increase
in alpha!
This great book includes guided exercises to help
you develop the brainwave pattern of the awakened
mind state. You can also buy a CD set containing
many of the guided journeys she has printed in
the book.
SuperLearning
2000
A classic book on accelerated
learning which covers all the latest techiniques
and technologies including the following enthusiastic
endorsement about our best-selling PhotoReading
CD set:
PhotoReading is literally eye-opening...
the goal: Let your unconscious take a snapshot,
imbibing a whole page in a glimpse. In a published
report, Dr Hideo Seki of Tokyo said that his own
and his students reading became at least
ten times faster.
In a sense PhotoReading is a specialised case
of Superlearning ..... being in the right state
of body and mind, feeding data to and accessing
it from the unconscious..
" PhotoReading may well be standard equipment
for 21st century Superlearners.
the authors enthuse about the power of baroque
music to help you learn information faster. You
will find some "Relax with the Classics"
CDs, specifically designed for this purpose, in
our online store.
Do get this book -- I'm sure you'll get some great
ideas.
the
Einstein Factor
In this remarkable book
youll find details of a wonderful technique
called Image Streaming to improve your creativity
and imagination, along with many other fabulous
new strategies. Author Dr Win Wenger enthuses
about the PhotoReading CD set we sell:
PhotoReading appears to be a natural step forward
in the evolution of human reading skills... (it)
frees us from the need to subvocalise, allowing
us to read at brain speed rather than tongue speed....
Try PhotoReading a dictionary several times, whether
in English or some foreign tongue. This exercise
will greatly enhance your vocabulary. In tandem
with formal study, PhotoReading will accelerate
your progress in almost any area many times over.
It is a metaskill with few equals.
Smart
Moves
I had the great pleasure
of seeing author Carla Hannaford in action at
the SEAL Accelerated Learning conference in Bath
in April of this year. Her fabulous book completely
sold out there. the book explores the body's role
in thinking and learning. Carla, a neurophysiologist
and educator, tells you why we must move our bodies
and shows us how to move to fully activate our
learning potential. Her remarkable insights will
be of great and immediate value to learners of
all ages, from the gifted to the so-called learning
disabled.
Another
common comment when people ring or write about
PhotoReading is: "I try activating and nothing
happens."
First you need to determine your predominant learning
style. Are you auditory, visual or kinesthetic
(feeling)?
Examples of each are set out in a fabulous new
book called Accelerated
Learning for the 21st Century: the Six Step Plan
to Unlock Your Master Mind by Colin Rose and
Malcolm Nicholl. Colin wrote the superb book Accelerated
Learning, and created the Accelerated French,
German, Spanish and Italian 12-CD sets (available
from Accelerated Learning). You can also get his
first book which is a lot cheaper.
the Learning Revolution
I found this very inspiring and with some great
ideas. Gordon Dryden is an award-winning journalist
from New Zealand who has written up some of the
best strategies for accelerated learning.
the left-hand page throughout the book has a list
of ideas, points or relevant quotations, and the
body of the book is on the right-hand pages, which
makes for a more interactive and purposeful read.
I also bought this book for my wife when we very
first started dating (she's a teacher of Spanish
and French to business people, and has also taught
English as a foreign language.) How romantic!
I thoroughly recommend this book.
Simply Live It Up
Another book has been published that raves about
the PhotoReading CD set. Simply Live It Up is
written by Teri-E Belf and Charlotte Ward. Teri-E
has a BA in Psychology and coaches clients in
productivity and life planning. Charlotte is a
Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming
and teaches accelerated learning classes.
they write: "No longer does anyone have to
settle for kindergarten slowness. By following
the PhotoReading Whole Mind System, you can enhance
your learning and greatly reduce the time you
spend regular reading. You can program your creative
mind to store meaning at the astonishing rate
of 25,000 or more words a minute."
they even give some very helpful tips: "My
favourite chant is 'Twinkle, twinkle, little star'.
A musically inclined friend flips her pages to
the undulating rhythms of a Bach cantata in her
mind's ear. Intoning words keeps your left brain
busy while your right brain absorbs the message."
I tried the nursery rhyme myself, singing it to
myself, and found that I was more relaxed while
I PhotoRead, and I maintained the Blip Page throughout
the whole book. In case you've forgotten how the
rhyme goes (!), it carries on: 'How I wonder what
you are. Up above the clouds so high. Like a diamond
in the sky.' If there are any further verses or
variations, please let me know!
the book carries on with some further advice:
"I usually PhotoRead round trip once from
front to back, and once upside-down and backwards
from back to front. If I find the subject matter
complex, I PhotoRead until I feel satisfied, an
accurate albeit subjective indication."
the authors also tell a story about a neuro- physiologist
called Izzy Katzef: "He suffered a stroke
which partially paralysed his right side and obliterated
a fourth of his visual field, thereby annihilating
his ability to comprehend any written material.
After recovering from the trauma he began playing
with PhotoReading again. To his amazement, what
he PhotoRead he could then read with complete
conscious comprehension. This was nothing short
of a miracle to him. He has hypothesised that
PhotoReading sends information directly into the
brain via the right hemisphere. Subsequently,
researchers have found what may be a neural pathway
for visual information that had previously not
been known."
Simply Live It Up offers brief, creative solutions
to ensure your success in the art of living, and
looks at PhotoReading between pages 165 and 180.
Paul Scheele describes the book as a "playful
and clever approach to personal development".
Paul Wilson: the guru
of calm
Paul has sold 7 million books on calm worldwide.
I called him up some time ago and together we
created the Little Calm Machine, a relaxation
device which comes with two awesome relaxation
CDs from Paul, and a really brilliant book to
help you get the most from the device. Paul is
a real expert on relaxation, and I can thoroughly
recommend his books.

the
E-Myth Revisited
Managing staff has been one of the biggest challenges
in my life. How do you keep them on track and
ensure consistent results? This book has the answer!
Author Michael Gerber shows you how to build a
business with watertight systems so you can ensure
that work is done to a particular standard so
customers are delighted. (And Michael has been
tranformed by the Sedona Method too.)
the Exploits of the Incomparable Mulla Nasrudin
Idries Shah brings together
the very best stories of the wise fool Nasrudin,
and I'm sure you've heard at least one of them.
Here's my favourite... A man walked down a street
at night and saw Nasrudin on his hands and knees
underneath a street lamp. "What are you doing",
he asked.
Nasrudin replied: "I am looking for my front
door key."
the man asked: "Where did you drop the key?".
"Over there by my front door."
" Well, why are you looking over here then?",
to which Nasrudin retorted: "Because there's
more light over here."
If that kind of story strikes a chord with you
then you are in for a treat!
I'm also about to start reading Caravan
of Dreams, full of Sufi stories. I can't wait!
Harry
Potter
Look: Im 40 years
old. I picked up the first Harry Potter book,
intrigued by all the fuss, and when I started
to read I was totally hooked! My sister, Louise,
who's a GP, got hooked too. Fabulous storytelling
even for the most seasoned adult reader. the stories
all race along at a cracking pace, and I never
get a sense that these books are really meant
for children .Go on: try one!!
You can buy the first three books as a box
set, and you can get the fourth, Harry
Potter and the Goblet of Fire in hardback
-- all 636 pages of it!
